The Process
note. in this example i will use the flickr contact av_producer as an example (because i like his work), but you will obviously pick the ones you like.
Overview
- 1)Create the folders on your computer.
- 2)Configure the Automatorworkflow included here and saving the application.
- 3)Schedule iCal to run the application at a specific time.
- 4)Telll iTunes to sync the photos to your iPod
1)Create the folders
- a)Create a folder in your Pictures folder called Photocastr.
- b)Create a folder called av_producer in the Photocastr folder
- Folder structure should look like this:
- Pictures \ Photocastr \ av_producer
Repeat step 1-b) for each flickr.
2)Configure the workflow
- a)Open the template Photocastr.workflow in Automator.
- b)Change all instances of "av_producer" to the contact you want to sync to your iPod.
- c)Save the workflow as an application in the Photocastr folder.
- give it the same name, "av_producer", to avoid confusion.
Repeat step 2-b-c) for each user.
Here is a screenshot of the workflow
you may notice that i delete the folder and create a new one, but that is just because we couldn't get Automator to overwrite the old photos.
3)Schedule iCal to run the application
- a)Create a new Calendar called Photocastr and in it create a new event called "av_producer"
- b)Schedule it to repeat every day.
- c)Set the alarm to "open file" and choose the application created in 2).
Repeat step 3-a-b-c) for each user
Here is a screenshot of the event in iCal
The end.
So that is it. If you have any ideas on how to simplify this process or make it better in any way, you are welcome to participate
